This role is responsible for the strategic development, planning, and forecasting for all resource deployment activities within the cabin services team across North America. The incumbent will ensure financial, productivity, and KPI targets are met by ensuring operational resiliency, while balancing high productivity and budgetary commitments.

This role will also be responsible for implementing and upholding Standards Operating Procedures that assign cabin tasks to employees based on their qualifications to contribute to operational safety, a satisfying work environment, improved customer service quality and On Time Departure. They will also be responsible for maintaining department KPI’s, Long Range Plans and focusing on Productivity levels.

This position may be located in Montreal or Toronto.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and delivery of Resource Deployment planning, forecasting, and activities for Cabins services across all stations.
  • Accountable to ensure consistent alignment and application of resource strategies and deployment plans across all stations.
  • Review advance resource planning provisions and ensure customer service levels are met through staffing levels day-of.
  • Responsible for the long-range manpower planning and manpower budget for all 4 main bases.
  • Cohesively work with Station Managers and local unions to ensure station operations demands are covered and FTE targets are met.
  • Responsible to ensure forecasting of planning of all grooming tasks to meet the cabin grooming program.
  • Ensure productivity targets and workforce plans are achieved in alignment with operational and financial objectives.
  • Oversee day-of overtime and undertime (OT/UT) targets to ensure financial targets are met, considering operational requirements, day-of sick calls and other short-notice liabilities.
  • Implement and manage SOPs for Resource Deployment, and continuously assess processes to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain SOP that assigns cabin tasks to employees based on their qualifications to contribute to operational safety, a satisfying work environment and improved customer service quality and On Time Departure.
  • Responsible for managing cabin delay coding and performance data monitoring (Delay KPI) for all main bases.
  • Responsible for all employee movements including transportation flow to maximize productivity.
  • Participate in seasonal operational readiness activities.
  • Improve customer experience by reducing turn time and optimizing grooming flow.
  • Responsible to maintain the aircraft secure as per latest corporate requirements.
  • Champion process improvements in an effort to more efficiently deploy allocated recourses.
  • Liaison with emergency response team to ensure constant link of communication.
  • Play an influential role in nurturing a sense of ownership across the workforce, so that employees feel empowered to use their judgment and experience to make sound decisions.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the airline industry, with experience in workforce planning or resource deployment an asset.
  • Financial acumen, ability to recognize and identify opportunities to save costs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to implement creative resolutions.
  • Recognized ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and be flexible.
  • Ability to respond and adapt quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities which elicit trust in employees and demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreements for unionized employees.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Strong knowledge in Air Canada safety and service standards, an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems (ie. Staff admin, Staff manager, ESS) an asset.
  • Previous airport operational experience, an asset
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
