The Manager, Reliability and ETOPS is responsible to manage the Air Canada Reliability and ETOPS Reliability program. In collaboration with the Fleet Managers and engineering personnel, the Manager, Reliability and ETOPs will recommend changes to maintenance requirements as a result of analysis of reliability data and identified trends. The incumbent will be expected to lead a team of Reliability Analysts in their day to day activities.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership and oversight of the Reliability program and ETOPS program.
- Accountable for the development of reliability metrics to be tracked across the fleet for the purposes of measuring, tracking and comparing fleet reliability. Accountable for identifying reliability trends and emerging reliability issues for awareness and action by the Fleet Manager and Engineering teams.
- Lead the Fleet Reliability Working Group meetings including setting the agenda and deciding topics for discussion.
- Recommend actions to Fleet Managers, Fleet Engineers and Maintenance Program Managers based on reliability data analysis and insights for the purposes of optimizing the maintenance program.
- Accountable for the presentation of reliability status and metrics to ACM Senior management and executives for each quarterly fleet Maintenance Review Board (MRB).
- Own the Air Canada ETOPS reliability program ensuring that Air Canada is in compliance with Transport Canada TP6327E technical and maintenance requirements
- Communicate with internal ETOPS stakeholders (ie Flight operations, Flight Dispatch, etc) to promote alignment of ETOPS policy among all Air Canada branches and departments.
- Review the investigation findings of all ETOPS Engine In-flight Shutdown and failure events with the responsible engineer and provide timely updates to the Fleet Managers.
- Review investigation findings of ETOPS Significant events and confirm they address the technical issue in question in collaboration with the responsible engineer and report findings in the MRB meetings.
- Prepare and distribute quarterly In-flight Shutdown (IFSD) reports for ETOPS stakeholders including Transport Canada.
- Work in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders in the evolution and development of Air Canada ETOPS policy and program. This could include the introduction of new ETOPS fleets to the Air Canada fleet, ensuring the Transport Canada ETOPS requirements are put in place for the new fleet.
- Provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders based on the reliability data and analysis performed by the team.
- Responsible to review all reliability action item responses and validating that the response is acceptable prior to closing
- Schedule and facilitate meetings with ETOPS stakeholders including Maintenance, Flight Operations, Dispatch and Transport Canada as required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Engineering degree is an asset
- Education or experience with data analysis including identifying trends and generating insights
- Experience in managing and leading a team
- Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Transport Canada policy guidance on Air Operator Reliability program and ETOPs program requirements.
- Understanding of reliability data gathering and analysis best practices in aviation
- A strong understanding of aircraft systems such as propulsion, hydraulic, electrical, ECS, etc.
- A strong understanding of aircraft maintenance and operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to lead a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
