Aecon is seeking a Procurement / Logistics Manager for a major project in New Brunswick. The successful candidate will work closely with project, engineering, construction, finance teams, and external partners to define and execute the overall procurement strategy for the project.
Key Responsibilities- Define and implement the project procurement strategy, aligned with cost, schedule, quality, and risk management objectives.
- Ensure governance and alignment of procurement, contracting, and purchasing practices across the organization.
- Oversee all procurement disciplines including subcontracting, purchasing, materials management, expediting, logistics, and supplier performance.
- Act as the senior commercial authority for strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, pricing structures, commercial terms, and risk mitigation.
- Lead the development and execution of project-specific procurement plans in collaboration with Project, Operations, Legal, and Project Controls teams.
- Provide high-level commercial and contractual expertise in claims management (subcontractors and clients), negotiations, and dispute resolution.
- Drive financial performance initiatives including cost optimization, value creation, savings tracking, and working capital management.
- Ensure ethical and contractual compliance of procurement activities, including internal policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership by providing insights, performance metrics, and recommendations.
- Lead, develop, and manage procurement teams, including resource planning, talent development, and performance management.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, safety, and operational excellence across teams and projects.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in procurement, supply chain, contracts, or logistics, including several years in a senior leadership role.
- University degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience on major construction, infrastructure, or complex industrial projects.
- Hydroelectric project experience is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of technical, contractual, and financial aspects of large-scale projects.
- Advanced expertise in strategic negotiations, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Experience managing claims, disputes, and complex contractual frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, influence, and executive communication skills.
- Strong strategic mindset with proven execution capabilities.
- Solid financial, commercial, and risk analysis skills.
- Proficiency with procurement systems such as SAP, IFS, JD Edwards, and reporting tools (Power BI, advanced Excel).
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Experience in civil infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
