Assist management with the sourcing and hiring process for the Safety department Provide site specific safety training and orientation to workers, owners and clients Develop and train supervisors and staff on the Health, Safety and Environmental Manual Review project plans and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks Inspect active project sites to evaluate ongoing work conditions to guarantee compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and general public Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on project sites Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards Represent Aecon at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters Other duties as assigned What you bring to the team; Minimum 5 years experience coordinating and managing health and safety for industrial, mining and infrastructure projects. Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Bachelors degree, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) and, Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience in working on heavy industrial, mining and infrastructure projects. Exceptional organizational and time management skills Excellent meeting and training facilitation Understanding of WCB, Claims Management and return to work program Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment Valid drivers license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
