The Opportunity

Aecon Industrial's best in class safety team is committed to providing a "Safety Always" approach to working our sites. We are looking for our next passionate team member to help us execute projects across Canada.

What you'll do here:

  • Assist with the design and implementation of the Comprehensive Environmental Controls and Methods Plan (CECMP), including air quality and dust control, noise and vibration monitoring, groundwater management, surface water runoff management, other environmental monitoring
  • Works with team members, including subcontractors, to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Performs field inspections, surveys and walk downs of environment related activities to assure field activities, conditions and results correspond with the CECMP
  • Identifies and reports environmental issues and concerns to the Management Team and recommends appropriate corrective actions
  • Identifies opportunities for continual improvement within the context of project execution and works with the Management Team to develop and implement proactive strategies
  • Responsible for the preparation of a variety of environmental checklists and reports as per contractual requirements
  • Any other responsibilities that is deemed necessary by the EHS Specialist and/or Project Specialist

What you bring to the team

  • University degree (or equivalent training and experience) in a related field: environmental science, environmental engineering, applied sciences, acoustics technology, etc
  • Three to five years of experience in environmental monitoring, oversight and reporting directly related to construction projects
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and their correlation with sound environmental performance and best practices
  • Knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements, including provincial legislation and municipal bylaws
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with environmental regulatory requirements and municipal bylaws in the Region of Waterloo would be considered a strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities
