What is the Opportunity
Aecon is well-positioned in the Canadian marketplace as an industry leader in the development and construction of infrastructure. We have a roster of ongoing major projects here and abroad, record backlog diversified across multiple sectors and duration, and a robust pipeline of future project pursuits. We are in a strong market position, but we are ultimately aiming higher. This position will require for the successful candidate to work in person at the Toronto or Cambridge office

What You'll Do Here

  • Data entry of invoices as well as adjustments for all divisions
  • Ensure all invoices are entered in a timely manner and provide support to the team as required.
  • Perform variance analysis, ensuring timeliness and accuracy for identified vendors within Shared Services for monthly reviews.
  • Assist with interim and year-end audit and reporting requirements.
  • Document and ensure continuous process improvements are applied.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
  • Deal with supplied demands via email or telephone.
  • Liaise with field personnel for approvals.
  • Extract invoices from SharePoint sites for entry and ensure invoice status is updated upon completion.
  • Additional duties as assigned

What You Bring To the Team

  • College Diploma or University Degree
  • 1 2 years of accounting and Accounts Payable experience preferably in a high-volume environment in the construction industry
  • Experience in SAP required.
  • Demonstrated computer software proficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel skills would be a strong asset.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines, prioritize and execute multiple tasks, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Flexibility to manage increased volume of work at month-end.
  • Desire to take ownership of tasks assigned and willingness to learn.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision within a team environment.
