The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking to recruit a professional candidate with strong communication skills to work in the capacity of:
FIRE SERVICE INSTRUCTOR
(Rotation, Permanent)
Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator and in collaboration with the Firefighter Training Officer and the École Nationale des Pompiers du Quebec (ÉNPQ), the Fire Service Instructor will facilitate various firefighter related courses, leading to the NFPA 1001 and Firefighter 1 certification of volunteers firefighters as well as any other training deemed necessary by the Civil Security Department.
More specifically, the Fire Service Instructor is responsible for the following:
- Lead and facilitate training for Nunavik’s volunteer firefighters, such as NFPA Firefighter 1001 Level 1 & 2 /, auto-extrication, etc.
- Develop strong working relationships with community Fire Chiefs.
- Assist in the development and the implementation of a regional recruitment campaign for volunteer firefighters.
- In collaboration with the Firefighter Training Officer plan, schedule and organize required training courses for all 14
- Ensure the use and adaptation of ENPQ required pedagogical and didactic
- Ensure that the training facilities in Kuujjuaq are kept in good working
- Assist in revising funding reports and budget follow-ups as
Required qualifications:
- Certified firefighting instructor by the ENPQ (IFSAC/Pro Board NFPA 1001, Firefighter 1, NFPA 1041).
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French; knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, planning and organizational
- Be available to travel frequently in the Nunavik
Place of work: Nunavik, Quebec
Salary: Min. $52,481 – Max. $89,256 a year

Statutory holidays: 20 days including 10 during Christmas holidays.
Rotation work schedule:
Option 1: 6-3 rotation schedule: 6 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 3 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly)
or
Option 2: 4-2 rotation schedule: 4 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 2 weeks’ paid leave (35 hours weekly).
