The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $43,286.60 to $75,920.60, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Mountain Elementary is a vibrant K-5 school nestled in picturesque Mountain Village on Sumas Mountain. The staff, students and families have established this elementary school as a school of excellence. Mountain Elementary is a safe school, with high behavioral expectations and standards. Students are actively taught appropriate social skills and they are reinforced through the use of school wide behavior support systems.
The successful candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to design an environment and programming conducive to engaging children and their families. They should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of social emotional learning, trauma informed practice, differentiated instruction, and familiar with technology used to support students.
The successful candidate may be required to complete LSS Essentials, a series of 3 workshops facilitated by the LSS Department.Education & Experience
- Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education)
- Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the level specified in the posting
- Case management experience required
- Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)
- Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
- Eligible for B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

- Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
