Invites applications for the position of:

Department Head of Special Education

St. Brother Andre CHS

Placement will be effective: September 1, 2025

*Major or Minor designation will be dependent on the number of sections assigned to the department as per Staffing Guidelines.

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated Leadership qualities/abilities

Required Qualifications/Experience**:

  • Part I of the Religious Education Course (or equivalent)

  • Recent Satisfactory Pastoral reference, dated within the last 12 months; MUST be uploaded to your Apply to Education profile.

  • Minimum of three years successful permanent teaching experience in the Secondary Panel

  • Positive recommendation from a Principal, (must be received prior to closing date on posting). Recommendation MUST be forwarded by email to: jessica.gore@ycdsb.ca

  • Expertise in the relevant curriculum area(s) and specialization/certification as required by Ontario Regulation (Operation of Schools - General) made under the Education Act. Candidates must obtain their specialization in the subject matter by June 15, 2025. Candidates currently enrolled in the specialist MUST submit proof of enrolment (via email to:jessica.gore@ycdsb.ca) with their application which confirms that the course will be completed by June 15, 2025.

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • Commitment to advance in respective field of specialty or responsibility through continuing personal and professional studies

*** Regular day school experience does not include daily occasional, long term occasional, continuing education and/or instructor experience.

Please refer to Part B - Article 13.16 for term of headship parameters. Effective September 2020 onwards, appointments shall be for a period of four (4) years, with a possibility of a one (1) year extension as determined by the Principal.
