The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst to learn and grow with our team! This unique role will have you based in Toronto - Canada or Boston - USA supporting our transformation journey in our Global High Net Worth (GHNW) business. Our GHWN business is in the middle of a three-year transformation journey to build out a new technology platform to support our international broker business as it expands across Asia and other jurisdictions. We are close to have a major implementation of a Salesforce platform to transform our New Business and Underwriting solution, and multiple initiatives are in progress with new system implementations in the areas of Policy Administration, Compensation, Customer/Broker Servicing portal, Correspondence and other areas required to build the new digital platform for the business.
You will collaborate with various partners to elicit and understand business needs. You will be instrumental in making recommendations to build and deepen user stories to address problem statements and deliver value to our end customers.

Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home
Work location: Toronto - Canada (highly preferred) or Boston - USA Office
Work timings: This role will require to be on call with Manulife Asia team early AM EST and/or evening EST hours on a regular basis
Position Responsibilities:
• Liaise with business partners to analyze sophisticated/complex problems and understand business and technical goals and objectives.
• Support the development of a three-year transformation roadmap for the GHNW business across all areas of the business operations.
• Perform analysis, identify root cause of problems, and contribute to development of technical solutions.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner and Scrum team to translate business objectives into Epics, Features, and detailed User Stories.
• Translate Life insurance product specifications into technical requirements.
• Work with various teams (business, internal and external vendor, where applicable) to ensure that technical solutions and product increments are in accordance with the business needs.
• Produce high quality user stories and acceptance criteria which support technical and business requirements.
• Efficiently handle contending priorities and navigate within ambiguity.
• Develop new processes and upgrade existing workflows aligned to business and technical strategy.
• Continuously grow and develop analytical capability and contribute to advancements and innovations within the practice.
• Understand testing requirements and build and support test planning and execution to validate that system solutions meet the business requirements.
• Identify emerging market and industry trends.
• Actively involved in communities of practice to bring industry standard methodologies to teams.
• Foresees problems instead of solving them, recognizes the needs for flexibility and diverse solutions.
• Ability to understand the political landscape and informal hierarchy.
• Able to demonstrate high level of individual engagement and act as a catalyst for driving engagement for team/department.
Required Qualifications:
• At least 8+ years IT experience
• At least 5+ years working experience, as a Technology Business Analyst preferably in financial services supporting medium to large size projects.
• Must have experience in Policy Administration and/or Illustration System.
• High level of discipline knowledge and understanding of area of practice.
• Knowledge of system design and of the techniques used in the analysis and testing process.
• Demonstrable ability to work independently, as well as collaborate and partner in a team environment with geographically dispersed Business partners and peers.
• Ability to efficiently support activity on multiple initiatives in parallel.
• Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, share skills and methods.
• Constantly learns from both success and failure and is keen on experimenting with emerging technologies.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to handle through creative abrasion.
• Agile team experience where responsibilities include the planning and delivery of user stories in an Agile SCRUM environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication; efficiently articulates technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in New Business and Underwriting for Life Insurance and Protection products.
• Experience working with off shore development teams and in a distributed team organization.
• Insurance Industry knowledge/experience particularly in High Net Worth product and broker solution space.
• Open to working unorthodox hours to accommodate different time zone (specially Asia).

Salary range is expected to be between
$94,220.00 CAD - $174,980.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
