Sr. Java (Spring Boot) Developer working with Apache Camel/Kafka to support Core Services Build for Client Onboarding Workflow Expansion Project

Location: Onshore - Toronto preferred (Hybrid - 1-2 days a week in DT Toronto office)

Duration: 6-month contract with high likelihood of extension

Our Capital Markets client is seeking a Senior Backend Java Developer to join a fast-moving team working on the Client Onboarding Workflow Expansion Project. The ideal candidate is hands-on, experienced with Apache Camel, Kafka, and Spring Boot, and can think strategically while delivering high-quality microservices in a fast-paced Agile environment.

You’ll play a key role in building critical core backend services that process both batch and real-time data, normalize it, and publish it to messaging buses for downstream consumption. This role requires strong backend development expertise, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to deliver independently.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Camel
• Integrate services with Kafka for real-time data streaming and transformation
• Build adaptors to process batch and real-time messages, normalize data, and publish to messaging infrastructure
• Contribute to the development of core platform services across the client’s technology stack
• Work collaboratively within global Agile teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
• Support the continuous buildout of the Client Onboarding Workflow Expansion Project

• 10+ years of hands-on backend development using Java (Spring Boot) to build REST APIs
• 7+ years of experience working with Apache Camel and Kafka, relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2), and messaging systems
• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures
• Ability to build clean, scalable, and secure services
• 3+ years of experience with Python
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and ability to work independently in a delivery-focused environment

• Experience in Capital Markets or Investment Banking environments
• Familiarity with AWS services: IAM, EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Glue, CloudFormation, SNS/SQS, and CloudWatch
• Experience with Shell scripting
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
