Senior SAP Functional Consultant
6 months
2 days on site Wed Thurs and last Friday of the Month
The LOB manages strategic SAP Finance projects and system enhancements for business users. The team supports Finance and works closely with Technology to deliver SAP functional solutions, including platform enhancements, system configuration, and functional analysis for S/4HANA Finance, MDG, Group Reporting, and related SAP capabilities.
The Functional Lead is responsible for proposing and delivering functional solutions for implemented SAP modules and acting as a subject‑matter expert (SME) for future implementations. The role collaborates with Project Management, Technology, and business stakeholders to ensure high‑quality delivery aligned with The Bank's requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage SAP platform enhancements (not daily production fixes) in alignment with policies.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
- Partner with Technology to design and validate functional and technical solutions.
- Evaluate solution options, performing pros/cons analysis and making recommendations.
- Create or review functional specifications for SAP changes and enhancements.
- Act as the main liaison between Business and Technology teams.
- Promote SAP platform usage with senior leaders, business owners, and third‑party partners.
- Build and maintain vendor/third‑party relationships.
- Communicate effectively to manage expectations and negotiate solution outcomes.
- Provide project updates and contribute to business case development.
- Analyze impacts, risks, and propose mitigation actions.
- Support multiple concurrent projects and enhancement initiatives.
CROSS‑FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Business stakeholders, Technology, consulting partners, contingent workers
- Finance team and LOB leadership (senior to executive)
- Key corporate functions: Technology, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Internal Audit
- External suppliers delivering SAP and related solutions
Must Have Requirement:
Experience & Soft Skills
10-15 years of experience in project environments or equivalent
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to simplify complex information for senior management
Strong organizational and multi‑project management skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
Systems development lifecycle and testing lifecycle experience
Ability to influence cross‑functional decision‑making
Adaptability in fast‑paced, changing environments
SAP Functional & Technical Expertise
At least one end‑to‑end implementation and one production support project
Strong functional knowledge of SAP modules, specifically:
S/4HANA Finance (GL, AR)
Chart of Account data mapping & multi‑GAAP
SAP Group Reporting (close & consolidation)
Intercompany eliminations
SAC reporting with CDS views
SAP MDG (configuration, workflow, master data modeling)
Fiori MDG UI
Data load configuration
Average Daily Balance, multi‑currency accounting
Financial services subledgers (FPSL, FCL)
Integration with upstream/downstream non‑SAP systems
SAP SDI data mapping
Understanding of enterprise data structures in S/4HANA Finance
ABAP enhancements, BRF+, BW - hands‑on is an asset
Understanding of SAP HANA DB concepts, SQL, data transformation
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred: MS Project, Teams, SharePoint
Nice to Have:
Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint experience preferred.
