Our transportation industry client is seeking a Senior Observability Engineer (Contract, 10+ years) to design and implement solutions using Dynatrace and Splunk

Join a fast-paced IT organization supporting a large-scale Observability initiative driving enterprise monitoring maturity. This role plays a key part in the design, implementation, optimization, and onboarding of a new observability solution, collaborating across digital, cybersecurity, architecture, infrastructure, and product teams. Candidates will contribute directly to the success of the 5-year Observability Maturity plan by leveraging their experience with automation, performance monitoring, and service mapping.

Must Haves

• 5+ years in Dynatrace administration including implementation across environments with more than 2500 components
• 3-5 years automation experience using Terraform and Ansible in monitoring or site reliability environments
• 3-5 years in Observability within complex 24/7 production environments
• Application performance monitoring, Synthetic transactions, and Business process monitoring
• Service map design

Nice to Have

• Experience with Splunk and SolarWinds
• Experience with Grafana and Prometheus
• Site Reliability Engineering background
• ServiceNow ITOM implementation, preferably integrating Dynatrace
• Experience with VMWare, Azure IaaS, Azure PaaS, and AKS
• Background in airline or other mission-critical industries

Responsibilities

• Support the Enterprise Monitoring team throughout the Event Management project lifecycle
• Partner with internal teams and vendor SMEs to design, plan, and implement observability solutions
• Optimize monitoring and automation strategies for increased operational efficiency
• Participate in the onboarding of services into the new observability platform
• Provide design recommendations to enhance system performance and reliability
• Collaborate with Digital, Cybersecurity, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering teams to deliver integrated monitoring capabilities
• Contribute technical expertise to achieve milestones and timelines for the observability maturity plan
