S.i. Systems enterprise public health client is seeking a REMOTE - Senior Sharepoint Architect to modernize Bonzai Intranet (SP 2016, SP online M365, Bonzai) - SOW20250722SB

Aug/Sept - March 31, 2026 contract + extensions

REMOTE - must live in Canada and work PST hours

Must Haves:

• Strong experience with SharePoint 2016 (on-premises) and SharePoint Online (M365).
• Familiarity with Bonzai Intranet architecture, especially Pulse and Management Centre.
• Proficient in modern SharePoint Online features: web parts, page layouts, and integration with Teams, Power Automate, and OneDrive.
• Skilled with migration tools: SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT), ShareGate, and SMAT.
• Experience running PowerShell migration scripts, including troubleshooting permission issues, site locks, and list view thresholds.
• Ability to assess and refactor:
• SharePoint Designer workflows
• InfoPath forms
• Custom CSS, master pages, layouts
• Bonzai-specific and third-party web parts
• Knowledge of SharePoint Online alternatives to Bonzai features.

PnP Search & SPFx Development

• Experience configuring PnP Modern Search: verticals, result sources, custom templates.
• Proficient in deploying and configuring SPFx web parts.
• Familiar with React, TypeScript, and PnPjs libraries.

Project Experience

• Participated in intranet modernization or cloud migration projects, ideally in healthcare or public sector.
• Experience decommissioning legacy infrastructure aligned with digital strategies.

Security & Governance

• Working knowledge of M365 compliance: DLP, retention policies, secure sharing.
• Familiar with information architecture best practices for scalable, searchable content.

Nice to Have

• Microsoft certifications.

Responsibilities:

Analysis

• Analyze existing SharePoint 2016 environment and recommend cleanup/migration timelines.
• Identify replacements for Bonzai web parts.
• Assess information architecture changes for consolidation.
• Evaluate relevant M365 tools to enhance UX.
• Define requirements for intranet search and decision support tool catalogue.
• Document and obtain approval for requirements.

Design

• Develop content migration strategy and governance plan.
• Design a unified hub-and-spoke architecture.
• Design page templates, theming, configuration, and permissions.
• Detail integrations and implementation steps.
• Design search experience using Aequos (PnP).
• Prototype decision support tool catalogue.
• Document design specifications.

Implementation & Testing

• Install/configure open-source web parts.
• Build intranet framework: homepage, navigation, site structure, permissions.
• Implement integrations and search enhancements.
• Guide and troubleshoot content migration using ShareGate.
• Support UAT and knowledge transfer.
• Deliver governance and sustainment documentation.
