Our banking client is seeking a QA Automation Engineer - Frontend (Playwright, GCP) (5-7 years) to build and execute automated UI test frameworks within cloud-native applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform

Join a dynamic Quality Assurance team supporting commercial banking engineering initiatives within one of Canada’s top financial institutions. This role focuses on developing frontend automation using Playwright for applications deployed in GCP, ensuring robust test coverage and reliable CI/CD pipeline integration. The position offers hands-on exposure to cloud-native technologies and collaboration with cross-functional engineering and business teams.

Must Haves

• 5-7 years in QA Automation with strong frontend testing expertise
• 2+ years of Playwright scripting, framework design using Playwright Test and POM
• Cloud-based testing experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) components such as Cloud Run, GKE, or App Engine
• Proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript including CI/CD integration and parallel test execution
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Nice to Have

• Experience testing React or Angular applications
• Exposure to microservices and containerized environments
• Background in banking or financial services
• Accessibility testing familiarity (WCAG)
• Experience with test reporting tools such as Allure or Playwright reports

Responsibilities

• Design and develop frontend automation scripts using Playwright
• Build and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks
• Execute end-to-end, regression, and smoke test suites
• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines through GCP Cloud Build or equivalent
• Perform cross-browser testing across Chromium, WebKit, and Firefox
• Validate UI workflows and responsive design behaviors
• Collaborate with development and business teams to ensure test coverage
• Track and report defects through JIRA or Azure DevOps
• Support testing of cloud-native applications hosted on GCP
• Provide reporting on test execution and quality metrics
