Our financial services client is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer / Solution Architect (10+ years) to design and implement enterprise-grade Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure using GCP GKE and Azure AKS-40824

Contribute to the success of a leading banking organization’s global Cloud Security Engineering initiative by building the next-generation security cloud foundation. This role defines and delivers scalable multi-cloud platforms leveraging Terraform, GCP, and Azure services. The contract offers high visibility within enterprise security and architecture, with potential for extension or conversion based on performance.

Location: Toronto/Hybrid 2 days in-office

Contract Duration: 07/01/2026 to 10/31/2026 (high chance of extension)

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of relevant IT and business industry work experience.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with solution architecture delivering Kubernetes platforms using GKE and Azure AKS

• 3+ years of Advanced proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices including modular design, remote state management, workspace strategy, CI/CD integration plan and multi-environment deployments

• 3+ years of recent experience in GCP and Azure Cloud services including networking, IAM, load balancing, storage and security services.

• 3+ years of recent experience implementing CI/CD and GitOps workflows using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Helm or similar automation platforms

•3+ years of recent experience with Cloud and Kubernetes security best practices including RBAC, workload identity, secrets management, vulnerability management and policy enforcement.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes networking, ingress controller, autoscaling and service mesh concepts.

• Strong Scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash or similar languages.

• Solid knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks.

• Recent experience with Top 5 Banks of FI is nice to have

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms across GCP GKE and Azure AKS
• Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform
• Implement secure, scalable, and highly available Kubernetes solutions with disaster recovery and observability features
• Design and integrate CI/CD and GitOps workflows to enable automated deployment and governance
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cloud security best practices
• Create and maintain technical documentation and architecture diagrams
• Build effective partnerships with technology and business stakeholders
