Microsoft Defender Implementation Engineer to support large cyber security initiative with client in the public sector

Work Model: HYBRID - Two days onsite (Tuesday and Wednesday). Starting in the new year, the schedule will alternate between two days onsite, then three days, and back to two days, and so on.

Contract: 5 months + extension

Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Microsoft Defender Implementation Engineer to lead an enterprise-wide rollout of the Defender suite. This role requires strong technical expertise, proven implementation experience, and the ability to work with architects and IT teams to deliver a secure deployment on a tight timeline.

• Design, configure, and deploy the full Microsoft Defender suite.
• Work with architects and IT server teams to ensure smooth integration.
• Configure policies, test, and tune for stability and protection.
• Complete deployment by December with minimal system disruption.
• Transfer knowledge and best practices to SOC and IT staff.

• 5+ years in cybersecurity/security engineering.
• At least two enterprise Microsoft Defender deployments completed.
• Strong expertise with Defender for Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, and Cloud Apps.
• Solid background in Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills.
• Microsoft security certifications (SC-200, AZ-500, etc.) preferred.
