Jr. Python Developer to contribute to core platform functionality

Our client is Canada's largest retailer. They are looking for a Jr. Python Developer to contribute to core platform functionality, and support ongoing improvements as the system scales nationally.

Project: Medslink is a growing production-scale platform that reduces medication waste by redistributing near-expiry inventory across pharmacies in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and BC. The platform is built in Python and runs on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Location: Brampton (1 day/week onsite)

Duration: 10 months (until EOY)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing Python logic for medication redistribution.
  • Help write and optimize SQL queries (BigQuery experience is a plus but not required).
  • Support implementation of business rules involving expiry timelines and inventory transfers.
  • Participate in building, deploying, and monitoring features using GCP services (Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Cloud Run, etc.) with guidance.
  • Collaborate with senior developers, operations, and product teams to understand and support user needs.
  • Use Jira to track tasks and contribute to agile sprints.

Must Have Skills:

  • 2-3+ years of experience in Python Development; understanding of OOP.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment using tools like Jira.

Nice to Haves:

  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts or assisting in integrating models into applications.
