The Job: Cyber Security Engineer

We’re seeking a Cyber Security Engineer with at least 7 years of hands-on experience in information security, ideally in regulated industries such as finance. In this role, you’ll lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our security capabilities, with a particular emphasis on cloud security in AWS.

You’ll partner closely with IT, Cyber Ops, DevOps, Risk, and Compliance to strengthen our security posture and ensure it remains scalable, resilient, and aligned with business priorities.

What You’ll Do

Security Architecture & Engineering

• Design and implement secure architectures for applications, networks, and data storage.
• Deploy and manage security controls such as firewalls, EDR, IDS/IPS, and DLP across hybrid environments.
• Define and enforce secure configurations and system hardening baselines.

Monitoring & Incident Response

• Tune SIEM rules for AWS and on-prem logs to improve detection accuracy.
• Manage alert triage, escalation, and incident response processes.
• Lead forensic investigations and post-incident reviews when required.

Threat & Vulnerability Management

• Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat modeling, and penetration testing.
• Coordinate remediation activities with IT and development teams.

Cloud Security (AWS Focus)

• Serve as the technical lead for AWS security strategy, implementation, and ongoing operations.
• Build and maintain cloud security controls using AWS-native services such as GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM, Macie, KMS, CloudTrail, and Config.
• Develop automation to enforce security policies, detect misconfigurations, and streamline incident response.
• Strengthen security for AWS workloads, including S3, VPCs, EC2, Lambda, EKS, and ECS.
• Partner with DevOps to integrate security into Infrastructure-as-Code workflows (Terraform, CloudFormation).

DevSecOps & Automation

• Embed security into CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Automate operational security tasks, detection rules, and response playbooks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure AWS and internal systems meet regulatory, industry, and internal security standards.
• Support internal and external audits, as well as third-party risk reviews.

Collaboration & Training

• Partner with development and IT teams to advocate for secure coding and operational practices.
• Share technical expertise and mentor colleagues on security best practices.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in cybersecurity with progressive responsibilities.
• Strong expertise across security operations, network security, IAM, endpoint protection, and cloud security.
• Deep experience with AWS-native security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, Macie, KMS, IAM, CloudTrail, Config).
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and DLP tools.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, and CIS Benchmarks.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills-able to partner across technical and non-technical teams.
• High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Education + Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Relevant certifications are highly valued (AWS Certified Security - Specialty, CISSP, CISM, OSCP, GSEC, etc.).
• Experience working in regulated industries (finance, fintech, or similar) strongly preferred.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container security in AWS (EKS, Fargate) is an asset.
• Participation in red/blue/purple teaming or threat hunting programs is a plus.
