The Quality Engineer oversees and coordinates cross-functional teams on multiple / advanced Moulding and Automation Solutions programs to ensure appropriate APQP and Quality-related PDP process steps and proactive quality tools are being properly and thoroughly executed on a timely basis.
- Ensure, with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments, Supplier and Group Office that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.
- Manage program quality by establishing back-end quality assurance on existing programs, completing Supplier and Finished Goods sampling and control plan requirements.
- Directing the dimensional control of on-going programs; ensuring that all products shipped meet all Customer dimensional, material and systems specifications.
- Documented deviations to those specifications, all at minimum cost.
- Visit Product Development Centres, Assembly Plants or Vendors, and issue trip reports on those visits as determined by the Quality Manager.
- Independently design, execute and evaluate quality systems particular to assigned products, including:
- Control plans,
- Check fixture designs & approvals
- Customer sampling plans and documentation
- Changes in Customer requirements
- Manage applicable field support activities to ensure effective containment and timely closure of quality issues.
- Develop, implement, and supervise in plant containment system,ie Sorts, Quality Gates / GP-12,
- Lead problem solving for applicable customer quality concerns (customer specific reports: 8D, 7 Step, 5 Phase, Is/Is Not, 6 Panel, etc.)
- Leads Plant trials for Engineering changes, Tool Moves and New Program Launches
- Lead/Participate/Approve Customer PPAP timing (Phased PPAP), NMR, traX activities.
- Lead the PPAP (Product Part Approval Process) activities and submit requirements for approval.
- Obtain Customer approvals on all parts and quality systems.
- Ensure that all appropriate Customer requirements are meet and retain documentation / evidence.
- Ensure all APQP / traX requirements are known, tracked and adhered to using planned program milestones and completed as required.
- Assist in developing GD&T requirements and/or review of GD&T requirements (Finished Goods / Components).
- Identify SPC (Statistical Process Control) requirements.
- Coordinate and participate in Internal/Supplier Drawing Reviews
- Participate in PFMEA review and team sign off
- Prepare, complete, and maintain Control Plans and Inspection Instruction Sheets.
- Co-develop PV Test Plan schedule to meet program timing and requirements.
- Source Test Fixtures & Build / Prepare Test Parts
- Obtain completed Test Report PV,
- Lead Test Incident Report investigation and corrective action.
- Develop and Maintain Customer attachment/contact point list and documentation.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering in preparation and approval of Assembly Work Instructions
- Support Raw Materials & Component Receiving Inspection Matrix and Instructions.
- Coordinate and ensure signoff / concurrence of control plan / attachment point checklist in conjunction with Mistake Proof Evaluation Procedure
- Ensure all products (purchased and manufactured) are to the appropriate engineering change level.
- Facilitate supplier deviation requests (i.e. SRCD’s) through CET, ESE & Customer with the supply base.
- Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Follow all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures.
- Participates in quality systems audits with customer and external auditors as required.
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety
- (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.
- Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.
- Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and/or certification.
- Any other reasonable duty required by Management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate engineering or technical field
- ASQ “Certified Quality Engineer” certification preferred.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in quality manufacturing or a related field, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Able to read and interpret automotive engineering drawings, including GD&T, and math data (CAD).
- Thorough understanding of dimensional measurement techniques.
- Working knowledge of statistical techniques including some familiarity with experimental design, SPC and charting, measurement systems analysis, relevant knowledge of SQC / SPC computer applications etc.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and procedures, ie, IATF 19649.
- Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
- Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use.
- Abele to cope with Deadlines and follow through to close issues.
- Problem Solving and Results Orientated work ethics.
- Independent focus on Customer Obsession and Continues Improvement
- Working with Minimal Supervision.
