Description
Your goal in this position is to operate, maintain, adjust and perform major repairs to power plant, chiller plant, mechanical room equipment and induction units. You have advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude. You also have good written, verbal and interpersonal skills. You have the ability to complete tasks assigned and to work independently. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate Power Plant equipment when needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and tests on power plant, chiller plant, mechanical room equipment and induction units.
- Make repairs to all mechanical equipment related to the engineering department.
- Diagnose problems and perform major adjustments and repairs to power plant, chiller plant, mechanical room equipment and induction units.
- Support the shift engineer on calls related safety and emergency situations.
- Required to access and complete work orders assigned through CMMS.
- Respond to all Fire Alarms and reset the Fire Alarm System when needed.
- Work safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety standard.
What must you have?
- Stationary Engineers Certificate, required.
- Fourth Class Operating Engineer Certificate from the Province of Ontario, required.
What else do you bring?
- Must have knowledge of HVAC equipment and its operation.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of boilers and related equipment.
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude skills.
- Proven attendance record.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
- Preferred, 3 years’ experience in oil and gas-fired coil tube boilers, building automation system, Centrifugal chillers, emergency diesel generators, HVAC and fire alarm system.
- TSSA Refrigerant B class certification will be an asset.
