Description
Our client is one of Canada’s most respected and rapidly growing specialty insurance brokerages, known for their deep expertise in surety, strong financial acumen, and longstanding relationships across the construction and mining sectors. With an expanding national surety practice, they are seeking an experienced Surety Client Executive to join their team and support a sophisticated portfolio of contract and commercial surety clients.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically strong surety professional who wants to work with complex bonding needs, collaborate with industry-leading analysts and underwriters, and build long-term strategic client relationships.

Responsibilities
- Market and place surety programs for contract and commercial surety, including reclamation bonds, performance bonds, labour & material payment bonds, maintenance bonds, and compliance instruments
- Work closely with clients to understand bonding needs and structure tailored surety solutions
- Conduct financial statement review and credit analysis to assess client strength and bonding capacity
- Prepare underwriting submissions, supporting documentation, and strategic recommendations
- Develop strong relationships with clients, underwriters, and key industry partners
- Provide advisory support on surety requirements for contracts, tenders, regulatory bodies, and project owners
- Identify prospective clients and support business development initiatives
- Mentor junior team members and participate in knowledge-sharing with analysts
- Manage renewal cycles, coordinate receivables, and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines
- Stay current with regulatory changes impacting construction, mining, and commercial surety obligations
- Support the team in managing a portfolio of 40-50 highly specialized clients Qualifications Must-Haves:
- Minimum 5 years of Surety experience, either underwriting or brokering
- Minimum 5 years of Contract Surety experience (infrastructure, construction, contractors)
- Valid RIBO license
Nice-to-Haves:
- Background in financial analysis, accounting, or business
- Experience with commercial surety or mining reclamation bonds (not mandatory but a strong asset)
- Prior underwriting experience with major markets
- Strong comfort working with financial statements, credit review, and risk assessment
Work Location
- Preference for Toronto, but open to other locations in Canada for highly senior candidates
- Hybrid schedule available (approx. 2 days per week in-office)
