Job Description:
About the role:
The Systems Analyst, Finance Transformation and Initiatives, is a key contributor within Sun Life’s Corporate Finance team. This role supports the quarterly external and internal financial reporting processes, with a particular focus on data integration supporting Corporate and Business Group (BG) reporting. The successful candidate will work within a cross-functional finance and technology team responsible for the governance and enhancement of the systems supporting Sun Life’s “last mile” reporting ecosystem.
This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day support and maintenance of the Longview and Workiva platforms, which are used to centralize, enrich, and report financial data across multiple business areas. The role also provides support to the Product Owner, Finance Transformation & Initiatives on strategic projects and process improvement efforts.
What will you do?
- Provide daily operational support for the Longview Close and Workiva platforms, including data enrichment, reporting workflows, and user assistance.
- Triage and prioritize incoming requests from finance teams, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Participate in project teams focused on onboarding new reporting areas and implementing system enhancements, adhering to tight development timelines.
- Act as a liaison between business and IT teams to support the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of financial systems.
- Collaborate with technical, accounting, and business stakeholders to maintain and improve existing reporting deliverables and controls.
- Contribute to business-as-usual (BAU) activities, including application maintenance, documentation, and user support.
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Document existing and new business processes.
- Design and develop reporting templates and data integrations.
- Coordinate with IT teams to manage and deliver user requests.
- Perform development work within Workiva’s data management suite.
- Provide end-user training and support as required.
What do you need to succeed?
- 2+ years of experience working with Finance systems
- University degree or college diploma in Finance, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python, and/or VBA.
- Demonstrated interest in financial systems, data integration, and process improvement.
- Experience with SharePoint Online site design and maintenance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel (experience with Pivot Tables/V-look ups.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a global, multi-site team to drive outcomes.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies, systems, and business concepts.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in both business and IT environments is considered an asset.
- Experience with Workiva’s Data Management suite or Longview Close is an asset.
- Experience with project management/tracking software. Ex. JIRA

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
