The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (4 months) Research Assistant I to support the Molecular Sciences Division of the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute. Reporting to the Research Manager, the Research Assistant I supports clinical and health research studies through participant recruitment, data collection, administrative coordination, and research documentation. Working within interdisciplinary research teams, the role contributes to the accurate implementation of research protocols, maintenance of study data and records, and support of knowledge generation while ensuring compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Entry, Databases & Records Management

  • Perform accurate data entry, coding, and database maintenance
  • Maintain and update study databases, ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Prepare and organize research documentation
  • Maintain and use participant data in a manner compliant with CAMH and applicable regulatory body policies

Research Administration & Coordination

  • Support administrative tasks including scheduling, calendar management, filing, and reconciliation of documents
  • Assist with regulatory documentation, study amendments, and ethics-related materials
  • Track study materials and supplies and prepare study materials as required
  • Maintain compliance with mandatory training requirements

Literature Review & Knowledge Support

  • Conduct literature searches using electronic research databases
  • Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, abstracts, and study documentation
  • Support knowledge translation and dissemination activities

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with research staff, clinicians, scientists, and other stakeholders
  • Provide regular project updates and contribute to study progress reporting
  • Attend research meetings and support team communication

  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing as part of a team

  • Perform other related research or administrative duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent
  • Postsecondary education or coursework in health, epidemiology, social sciences, psychology, neuroscience, biostatistics, or related fields is an asset
  • Experience with genome-wide association study data quality control and analysis pipelines, polygenic risk score (PRS) calculation, as well as integration of different data types (genetic, proteomic, clinical, etc)
  • Experience supporting clinical and/or longitudinal research studies
  • Experience working with large public datasets such as CANPATH and CLSA using R
  • Experience conducting literature searches using academic databases (e.g., PubMed, PsycINFO) is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency with Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset
