THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Policy Development and Research Manager, the Military Family Services Program Specialist will be responsible for implementing projects within Military Family Services.

They will implement, track and report on key initiatives as directed by their supervisors within MFS. They will coordinate activities aimed to support families through military challenges like relocations, deployments and transitions, specifically in relation to

• increasing their access of critical services such as child care
• supporting the funding process by reviewing applications, assessing eligibility, and contributing to funding recommendations for local programs.
• supporting fund recipients by clarifying expectations, offering interpretive guidance, and answering program‑related inquiries
• reviewing reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with national templates

They will engage with other staff within MFS and CFMWS to action a network of support required to enhance the operational readiness of military members and the well-being of their families. As a valued staff member within MFS, they will be accountable for ensuring they deliver on strategic initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in Social Science, Education, Administration, Community Development or a related field AND several years of experience in family support, social services or a related field

Experience

In program and service delivery

In developing and implementing community programs and services

In creating briefing materials and presentations

In community engagement

In establishing, sustaining and fostering a network of community contacts and partnerships

In applying policies, procedures and applicable legislation and regulations

In developing standardized content and operational procedures

In project management

In marketing, communications, proofreading, layout and design

In delivering family support services

In planning, coordinating and conducting training (including adult education)

In drafting correspondence

In budget administration

In personnel administration, as required

In working with a multidisciplinary team

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English or French Essential. Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Reading: Advanced Level

Writing: Functional Level

Oral: Advanced Level

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.

Interviews will be conducted virtually.

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate must successfully complete a Reliability status security screening.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated start date of June 15, 2026 and end date of October 31, 2030.
