THE ROLE

The Military Family Services Program Manager provides national leadership and operational oversight for the Family Transition Advisor team, ensuring consistent, high‑quality implementation across regions and delivery partners. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Program Manager is accountable for translating strategic direction into executable program models, working within national standards, and supporting front‑line teams through clear guidance, training, and operational oversight. The Program Manager may meet with clients in person on a limited basis to ensure continuity of service for transitioning families in the National Capital Region (Ottawa). They are skilled at tailoring program direction, whether in meetings, presentations or public discussions and also works closely with key stakeholders at Canadian Armed Forces Transition Centres and Military Family Resource Centres to support alignment, provide advice, and ensure effective implementation of MFS Family Transition Services. The role also includes managing external contracts and working with partners to share knowledge in meaningful ways. To succeed in this role, strong evidence-based management skills, attention to detail, professional communication and comfort using innovative software are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Family Studies, Education, Management or a related field, AND several years of experience in managing family or community development services

Experience

In working with a cross-section of the community

In developing, implementing and overseeing family related programs

In measuring and analyzing service performance

In personnel administration

In project management

In planning and conducting presentations, workshops and briefing sessions

In contract negotiations and administration

In developing, applying, interpreting policies and procedures

In non-violent crisis intervention, an asset

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Bilingual (English and French) Essential

Reading: Advanced Level

Writing: Functional Level

Oral: Advanced Level

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.

Interviews will be conducted virtually.

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate must successfully complete a Reliability status security screening.
