What is the Opportunity?
Spanning five decades and more than 400 nuclear energy projects, Aecon Nuclears portfolio of building, refurbishing, maintaining and decommissioning nuclear power facilities reflects a record of project success that ranges from small but essential maintenance contracts to major construction endeavours. Aecon supports clients with expert project management and trades working to Aecons most exacting standards, based on the nuclear industrys fundamental principles of safety, reliability, quality and predictable performance.

Aecon has successfully executed a broad range of projects, including construction of the Bruce B heavy Water Plant, Bruce Unit 1 & 2 Balance of Plant Refurbishment and the Darlington Used Fuel Dry Storage Project. This kind of experience and track record has made Aecon a trusted supplier to clients for their mission critical projects. The Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement Project (RFR) Ontario Power Generations largest nuclear project, and the fabrication, assembly, inspection, examination and testing of 24 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Mechanical Process Modules for two new build nuclear power plants in the U.S. are key examples of Aecon Nuclears flagship projects.

Aecons unparalleled industry experience has also helped with securing long-term master service agreements with longstanding clients in key sectors of the Canadian economy. In the nuclear power sector, these trusted partnerships are especially and increasingly important.

To support the nuclear sector in Canada, Aecon maintains a nuclear quality management system compliant to the requirements of CSA Standards N286-05, CAN3-Z299.1 and N286.7. Additionally, Aecon maintains several CSA N285.0 Certificates of Authorization. Aecons N, NPT, NS & NA Stamps from the ASME, coupled with programmatic compliance to U.S. Federal Regulation 10CFR50 Appendix B, has extended Aecons reach to the U.S. and international nuclear markets.


Reporting to the Sr. Contracts Admin Lead the successful Candidate will be responsible for issuing Subcontracts within Aecon Nuclear.


What You'll Do Here:

  • Preparation and coordination of Subcontracts for Aecon Nuclear Projects at OPG, Bruce Power and within the Fabrication Shop.
  • Assist the Project Team with Subcontractor selection and ultimately the preparation of Subcontract packages from qualified suppliers as required.
  • Monitor ISNetworld database daily to ensure suppliers remain in good standing.
  • Review purchase requisitions and related documentation to ensure clarity and completeness with the description of the services, equipment, or materials to be included as part of the Subcontract.
  • Strict adherence to quality assurance requirements.
  • Process subcontractor invoices for payment by making comparisons to subcontract order and various other payment criteria.
  • Prepare/print necessary reports indicating outstanding subcontract payables obtain the Project Manager(s) approval for payment release to Subcontractors.
  • Prepare monthly reports for unprocessed invoices for Finance.
  • Scheduling payments of supplier invoices.
  • Reconcile suppliers statements, call for copies etc. as required.
  • Assist HR with Independent Contractor setups.
  • Prepare monthly Independent Contractor WSIB Earnings reports.
  • Assist in Subcontractor Vendor Setups in SAP / Prequalifications


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Project Coordination or procurement related role.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, as well as independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Must have the ability to handle all matters in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, with excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and SAP considered an Asset.
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
