General Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Business Processes and Systems, the Senior IT Analyst - ONTCS Implementation provides senior analytical and implementation leadership for the institution‑wide implementation and adoption of the Ontario Transfer Credit System (ONTCS) at the University of Guelph. This position exists to lead the end‑to‑end planning, execution, and stabilization of ONTCS within the University’s enterprise student information environment, ensuring the system is effectively integrated into admissions, transfer credit assessment, advising, and related registrarial processes.
The role is the primary institutional lead for the ONTCS implementation, accountable for translating provincial requirements, institutional policies, and academic practices into sustainable system configurations, workflows, and documentation. The Senior IT Analyst - ONTCS Implementation works independently and with a high degree of professional judgment to define implementation approaches, identify risks and dependencies, and recommend solutions to complex system, integration, and process challenges. Positions at this level require extensive knowledge and the ability to provide innovative and creative solutions to complex information technology and business process challenges.
The position works closely with senior staff across Admission Services, Registrarial Systems and Technology, Academic Advising, Information Technology, and academic units to ensure ONTCS alignment with operational practices and institutional priorities. Core components of the role involve leading business analysis and project management activities, developing the integrated solution in consultation with others both internal and external to the University of Guelph, overseeing testing and readiness efforts, and developing training and reference materials to support adoption by other Ellucian Colleague institutions and long‑term sustainability.
In addition, the Senior IT Analyst - ONTCS Implementation represents the University in cross‑institutional ONTCS working groups, contributing to shared implementation guidance, documentation, and sector‑wide best practices, particularly in collaboration with Ontario postsecondary institutions using Ellucian Colleague. A major outcome of this role is to share implementation best practices and requirements with partnering institutions and the Ontario Council for Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT).
While ONTCS implementation represents the core and predominant focus of the position, the incumbent may be assigned to support other related systems, analysis, or improvement initiatives on a limited basis when project timelines or phases allow. Any such work is expected to be aligned with registrarial systems, enterprise applications, or institutional priorities and does not replace the primary ONTCS mandate.
This position is fully grant‑funded and time‑limited. As such, the role is established for the duration of the grant and is not intended as a continuing position. Secondments will be considered. Secondments from partnering Ontario postsecondary institutions that use Ellucian Colleague may be considered where such arrangements support knowledge transfer, sector collaboration, successful ONTCS implementation and aligns with the strategic priorities of each institution.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science with minimum 4-5 years of previous related IT/project experience within the complete range of the IT spectrum
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience (some roles may require more extensive experience or training in a particular area of IT)
