Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist working in the LEAP Service delivers group-based pain self-management education to people living with pain and a neurological condition. Self-management skills taught include various pain management strategies, chair exercise, relaxation techniques, mindfulness meditation, pacing strategies and assertive communication skills. LEAP Service only accepts referrals from Toronto Rehab Brain and Spine Program and West Park Neuro Rehab. The primary populations served are acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and multiple sclerosis. The principal responsibilities include: conducting intake assessments to determine eligibility and treatment goals, and explain the services; co-facilitating online groups of 6-18 patients using Microsoft Teams; co-leading gentle guided group exercise including in-person hydrotherapy; conducting inpatient consults; and administrative tasks to support the running of group treatment. The occupational therapist will work closely with a team of occupational therapists and a physiotherapist.
