Duties

The Multi Organ Transplant Coordinator (MOTC) works to ensure effective management, planning, communication and coordination of organ transplant activity. Providing an essential link between the organ donation agency (Trillium Gift of Life), the transplant recipient, surgical team and hospital services, the MOTC reviews and presents organ offers to the transplant teams, managing the processes through to retrieval and transplantation. The principal responsibilities include: utilizing and applying specialized clinical knowledge and expertise to provide, manage, coordinate and facilitate continuity in patient care management for patients being called in for organ transplantation. This requires a high degree of clinical knowledge, complex problem solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities within intense and challenging clinical and organizational situations. The MOTC also engages in teaching/education initiatives, supports continuous quality improvement activities; to participates in academic and research activities/projects; performs administrative responsibilities; and performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
