KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Supervisor, the primary purpose of this job is to produce printed material for schools, curriculum support centres and administrative offices by operating printing and finishing equipment.

  • Produce print products and materials by operating a variety of machines including scanners, printers and duplicators as assigned or required
  • Work with other binding/finishing machines by operating binding equipment including cerlox punch and cerlox inserter, Stapler, collator, Drill, Cutter/Guillotine, automatic paper folder, padding machine, etc.
  • Perform packaging and shipping of completed print jobs
  • Quality control by routinely checking and verifying output quality and integrity
  • Monitor machines and ensure adequacy of supplies (e.g., paper, toner, lubricants, ink, etc.)
  • Perform basic maintenance on printing and binding equipment, place service calls and advise Sr. Print Clerk and/or Supervisor
  • Monitor the stock level of consumable supplies, and advise the Sr. Print Clerk and/or Supervisor accordingly when supplies are low
  • Track and log print meter readings on each machine and forward to Supervisor
  • Assist in moving paper stock and delivery to photocopier stations as required by lifting boxes of paper onto dolly and using dolly to deliver paper supply to photocopier locations and unloading paper next to machines
  • Assist in training new staff to operate equipment as required
  • Some shift work and overtime work may be required
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma plus additional courses on printing technology, or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) months of related work experience
  • Physical dexterity is required for heavy lifting (e.g., lifting and moving paper boxes /carrying supplies)
  • Familiar with printing and finishing machines/equipment, M/S Office Suite of products
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
