Position Overview:
At Home Depot Canada, the UX Writer is responsible for planning, creating, organizing, editing, and structuring the content and copy our customers encounter when navigating their way around homedepot.ca and our mobile applications. This copy is crucial in guiding the customer and helping them complete their product research and/or purchase and ensuring that the user experience is as smooth as possible.
The UX writer is involved in the design process from the very beginning. They work with designers, researchers, strategists, product owners and other key business stakeholders to create customer-focused copy that works harmoniously with the product layout, consistently across multiple touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery and Execution
Write clear, consistent, concise product copy (instructional, notifications, purchase flows, error messages, and more).
Ensure that site content is user-focused and consistent in style, tone, format, and quality.
Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Have a deep understanding of product areas and demonstrate how copy recommendations fit with product goals.
Find smart ways to use data to evaluate and improve content.
Conduct user research to test the effectiveness of copy and build a strong sense of empathy for the target audience.
Create and help maintain writing guidelines that are in line with The Home Depot’s brand and voice.
Develop messaging with an eye toward accessibility.
Manage and deliver copy translation.
QA and User Acceptance Testing of content.
Present copy and decision rationales to cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, facilitating a shared understanding of user experience goals.
Collaboration
Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, legal counsel and engineers to create meaningful, human experiences.
Work with vendors, external and internal partners where necessary for project execution.
Obtain copy approval as needed; make edits as necessary.
Support the E-commerce team with copywriting for presentations and other internal and external projects when necessary.

University/College degree in a related area of study, or equivalent experience
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
3-5 years of experience in copywriting, editorial, or mass communications.

Experience writing/editing for digital platforms (web, email, mobile, applications).
Technical writing experience is an asset.
Understanding of industry and UX principles and best practices is a strong asset.
Strong attention to detail is a must.
Ability to switch between multiple projects, audiences, channels, and scopes.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and under very tight deadlines.
Passionate about working in a customer-centric, multi-channel environment, and collaborating across departments and teams.
Experience working in ecommerce or a retail organization is an asset.
Good oral communication skills required for working with internal & external partners.
Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand instructions.
Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team is required.
Previous omnichannel retail or eCommerce experience.
