Summary of Duties

The Registered Nurse provides holistic, high quality and safe care to patients prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the College of Nurses of Ontario. The Registered Nurse provides care to patients with complex care needs within in a broad range of nursing/patient care services for the unit in which they are working. The nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in compliance within the scope of practice. Receives patients into unit, obtains and documents nursing assessment, vital signs, health and social history as applicable. The nurse is responsible for providing direct care, assisting with procedures and post procedure monitoring for patient in a variety of settings in accordance with standards of the College of Nurses, the organization and Person Centred Care philosophy; provides education/counseling, and documents information according to appropriate standards. 

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Current CNO Ontario Registration
  • Current BCLS certificate
  • ACLS preferred
  • B.Sc.N. preferred
  • Recent acute care experience preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize in a stressful environment required
  • Competent computer skills required
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Proven ability to promote Person Centered Care in a clinic environment Expertise in the performance of gynecological operative techniques
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, including students
  • Demonstrated interest in personal professional development
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational and teaching skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Person Centred Care approach and principles
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict management
