Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) and Quality Coordinator – Toronto Central North Regional Cancer Program

 

Summary of Duties

The Toronto Central (North) Regional Cancer Program (TCN RCP) is responsible for implementing provincial standards and programs for cancer care and ensuring service providers meet the requirements and targets set out in their partnership agreements with Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario. The TCN RCP is based out of the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and works closely with partner organizations in the region.

 

The TCN RCP is seeking an OBSP MRT and Quality Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Ontario Breast Screening Program. The OBSP MRT and Quality Coordinator is responsible for overseeing mammography quality within the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) and leading quality assurance activities across OBSP sites in the Toronto Central region in collaboration with the Regional MRT Lead. This role plays a critical part in maintaining high standards of care. The Coordinator is also a core member of the cancer screening team within the TCRCP, contributing to regional efforts to enhance screening quality and performance.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support Regional MRT Lead in conducting quality assurance activities for all 45+ OBSP sites in Toronto Central, including:
    • Ensuring site compliance with annual physics inspections by reviewing inspection reports and following up on corrective actions as outlined by the medical physicist
    • Monitoring Canadian Association of Radiologists Mammography Accreditation Program updates and accreditation status for mammography machines and clinical staff in the region
    • Conducting annual image reviews for OBSP Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) in Toronto Central, as outlined by Ontario Health – Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO)
    • Developing and sharing summary reports on the outcomes of MRT image reviews with MRTs and OBSP site leadership
  • Provide ongoing support for 45+ OBSP Sites in the region on matters related to OBSP operations and MRT workflows.
  • Collaborate with cancer screening team members to support the onboarding of new OBSP sites and transitions in site leadership or staffing.
  • Support the implementation of change management initiatives related to evolving OBSP policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver educational presentations and materials to support training and professional development for OBSP MRTs.
  • Conduct audits for the OBSP High Risk Program in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide support for OBSP-related projects and program activities.
  • Participate in annual OBSP site meetings across all Toronto Central sites.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Preferred candidate will hold a Bachelors degree in a healthcare or science related field
  • Current College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) registration mandatory.
  • Registration with Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) an asset
  • CAMRT certificate in Breast Imaging preferable
  • Minimum five years current mammography experience
  • Strong understanding of OBSP policies and procedures, and the breast imaging landscape in Toronto Central.
  • Expertise in mammography quality assurance including but not limited to CAR-MAP, Physics Inspection and Technologist QC processes, and identifying opportunities for practice improvement.
  • Demonstrated strength in leadership, communication, and collaboration, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Skilled in analyzing and summarizing clinical quality data, tracking site compliance, and following up on corrective actions.
  • Experience managing multiple sites, supporting policy implementation, and leading change management initiatives.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with MRTs, site leaders, and external partners such as Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario).
  • Effective problem-solver with a proactive approach to quality issues and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to build consensus
  • Adaptable and organized, able to balance multiple tasks and timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software for reporting and data entry.
