We currently have a Regular Full-time opportunity for an Occupational Therapist in the Working Condition Program (WCP) department at Holland Centre. Hour of Work: Weekdays: Days, 8 hrs; As per schedule Summary of Duties Conduct interprofessional (Physician and Health Professional) assessment and treatment of clients with musculoskeletal disorders referred by third-party payers (eg. Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Motor Vehicle Collision [MVC], Employers, Insurers, Law Firms); Conduct Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAEs), Ergonomic Assessments, Job Site Visits, and Wheel-Trans Eligibility Assessments; Prepare comprehensive assessment and treatment reports outlining clinical findings, treatment plans and return to work recommendations within specified timelines and ensure all documentation is aligned with College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and WCP standards; Conduct hand therapy assessments and provide treatment including the prescription of off-the shelf splinting options or fabrication of custom splints, and recommend adaptive equipment as required; Conduct Glove assessments (work gloves, winter gloves) and prescribe off-the shelf and custom made gloves; Provide active treatment including conducting task/work analysis and developing person-centred, work conditioning treatment programs, education, and management strategies related to persistent pain, injury prevention and an early and safe return to work; monitor, adjust and progress treatment program as appropriate; Provide support to the Clinical Coordinator role; this may include triage of referrals, communication with referral source to obtain approvals for services, liaise with referral source and patients regarding clinical concerns and process issues, support quality assurance initiatives, participate in pain clinics, and provide coordination of clinic/patient flow within the program; Collaborate with the WCP team to focus on evidence-based outcome-oriented recommendations for clients and referral sources; Educate clients and their families, hospital staff and the community regarding musculoskeletal disorders and preventative healthcare; Follow clinic business processes and workflows; Direct the daily activities of students/interns in the department, as required; and Identify and participate in clinical education in order to remain current in professional practice areas through readings, attendance at internal and external professional development events and through consultation with fellow Occupational Therapists; Participate in interprofessional activities and profession-specific teaching, in support of the Sunnybrook Occupational Therapy service and Sunnybrook’s full affiliation with the University of Toronto We Provide: Team-oriented, progressive clinical environment; Experience delivering services to employers, insurers and WSIB clients; and Continuing education and professional development Qualifications/Skills Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario CAOT or OSOT membership is encouraged, with proof of liability insurance 2 -3 years’ experience, knowledge and skill in clinical musculoskeletal dysfunction, psychosocial evaluation skills, work/functional evaluation and work hardening in the injured worker/ insurance claimant population in an outpatient setting. Experience with third party insurers (e.g., WSIB, MVA) and potentially some experience with long-term disability clients; Certification in Hand Therapy an asset; Ability to assess and/or treat clients virtually or in clinical environment; Experience working collaboratively within an interprofessional team; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong aptitude for report writing and attention to detail is a must Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and constantly shifting priorities; Sound judgement and problem-solving abilities; Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred Care approach and principles; and Ability to demonstrate reflective practice.
