Manager, Shift Operations - Patient Flow and Repatriation - Temporary Part-Time 2024-7327

Classification: Temporary Part Time (approx September 2024)

 

Summary of Duties

Reporting to the Director, Patient Flow, the incumbent will provide administrative and clinical leadership, with special attention to issues of high risk, after hours in the absence of on-site management by:

  1. Demonstrating excellence in critical thinking and applying creative solutions to problem solving

  2. Supporting and empowering staff to negotiate resolutions to patient, family and health care team concerns, equitable staffing and workload issues

  3. Ensure urgent issues related to OHS, risk, scheduling, IP&C, etc., are addressed including notifying/following up with team leads where required.

  4. Identifying obstacles to optimum patient flow and bed utilization and initiating remedial interventions.

  5. Chair bed meetings as required.

  6. Participate/Lead emergency code responses and debriefing with staff (where applicable)

  7. Assume the role of Incident Commander where the Hospital Emergency Operations Centre is activated, and invoke critical incident response plans until relieved by the Administrator or Executive on-call.

  8. Offering direction and support to after-hours on-site and on-call supervisory staff

  9. Participate in key meetings (e.g. PCM) and committees where appropriate.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  1. Masters preferred

  2. BScN with 3-5 years current nursing experience

  3. Current certification of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario

  4. Management experience required

  5. Current B.C.L.S certification advanced clinical skills required; A.C.L.S. preferred

  6. Working knowledge of computers (i.e. MS Word, Outlook, etc.)

  7. Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario

  8. Patience, flexibility and outstanding interpersonal skills

  9. Proven organizational, interpersonal, conflict and communication skills

  10. Demonstrates strong critical thinking, decision making judgment and conflict resolution skills

  11. Ability to work effectively and demonstrates composure under pressure/ stressful conditions and to meet multiple and competing deadlines

  12. Demonstrated commitment to Patient-Centred Care and proven interpersonal skills

  13. Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients

  14. Has knowledge of applicable legislation affecting Human Resources (i.e. Human Rights, Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act)

  15. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
