The Schulich Heart Research Program at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and committed to participate in innovative and high quality clinical and preclinical research. Reporting to Dr. Dennis Ko, Director of the Schulich Heart Research Program the Clinical Research Manager will collaborate with investigators and health care teams to assume the responsibility for the overall management and coordination of the clinical and preclinical units according to regulatory and institutional guidelines and requirements.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Financial management of the clinical and preclinical research within the Schulich Heart Research Program Monitoring of research budgeting and accounting including oversight of research study accounts in Program. Monitoring and modeling cash flows and resource utilization to ensure sustainability of clinical and preclinical research in Program. Periodic review and updating of cost structures for services and supplies associated with clinical and preclinical studies. Assistance with budget design and approval of budgeting for clinical and preclinical research projects (as applicable) to ensure costs are met by proposed studies (both those led at Sunnybrook and collaborative site projects paid on a per patient basis) and for pilot projects. Liaison with SRI Finance on setting costs, overheads and financial approval of all related contracts. Business liaison Work with external users, notably major bio, pharma and device companies (on master agreements. Coordination of all purchasing associated with clinical and preclinical studies, including capital equipment and supplies. Coordination of all billing for preclinical and clinical studies, particularly cost recovery. Managerial role with the Schulich Heart Research Program Clinical trial unit/Preclinical unit Track patient enrollment of clinical trials Track lab utilization in the preclinical lab Hiring and track performance of staff   QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Requires the successful minimum completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline Minimum 3 years’ recent experience in the administration & coordination of clinical & preclinical research. Advanced knowledge of the clinical or preclinical research process and regulations Budgeting experience. Experience working with physicians, industry sponsors, and hospital departments an asset. Experience monitoring and ensuring adherence to process across a large team. Experience guiding new projects through review & approvals’ process. Well-developed interpersonal skills for working effectively within a diverse and inter-professional environment Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills Established professional, courteous, approachable manner with a “can-do” attitude Must have excellent customer service work ethic and be a team player Superior time management, organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail required Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize work effectively and meet multiple deadlines Knowledge of the clinical research process at Sunnybrook/SRI a definite asset   Application screening will continue until a suitable candidate is identified.
