Who we are looking for

A dedicated team player, the person would be responsible for the administration of tax to a selected group of State Street client in North America. Focusing on tax accounting, reporting, compliance, tax research and writing, the candidate would within the team build positive client relations and identify and help in resolving a variety of tax issues.

What you will be responsible for

  • Review trust income tax returns and related working papers
  • Research various tax issues and prepare memos
  • Prepare and review semi annual and annual distribution calculations
  • Review year end tax reporting slips for submission to CRA and unit holders
  • Review stop loss and suspended loss reports and summary
  • Review year end customized client tax reporting
  • Liaise with clients on various reporting deadlines
  • Review CRA Notice of Assessments and determine to file Notice of Objection or T3 Adjustments
  • Participate in Ad hoc projects on tax laws and technology build
  • Participate and train staff on tax department’s risk management
  • Review Indirect tax calculations
  • Review Indirect tax Returns
  • Communicate with Clients on Indirect Tax updates and applications to the funds
  • Train Tax department and Client service Staff on Expenses Review
  • Train Tax department staff on Indirect Tax Standard Operating procedures

Education & Preferred qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation (CA or Income tax and Indirect tax In-Depth)
  • Strong accounting and tax background with progressive 5 year of experience in the public practice or financial service industry
  • Additional experience related to exposure to complex tax issues surrounding the mutual fund industry
  • Advanced computer skills (including Word, Excel and Tax prep)
  • Ability to research online with CCH and other research tools
  • Excellent communication skills that allows effective communication within the team and with the client
  • Additional experience related to complex tax issues surrounding the mutual fund industry
  • Sound knowledge of Indirect Tax
