MANAGER OF SOCIAL WORK SERVICES

1.0 FTE - Permanent position

Salary: $137,482 per year



The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Social Work Services. Working as part of the Mental Health and Well-being Leadership team and reporting to the Mental Health Lead, the successful applicant will lead and support a team of dedicated social workers. This leadership role is responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to social work staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and ethical standards. This role may also assist in the supervision of the attendance counsellor and child and youth work roles;
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of measurement-based care to improve student outcomes;
  • Oversee quality assurance initiatives, including performance evaluations and continuous improvement strategies;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant professional practice standards, legislation and regulatory compliance related to social work and mental health services;
  • Develop and maintain practices that align with current laws and professional standards;
  • Represent the department in interdisciplinary meetings and external stakeholder engagements with strong oral communication;
  • Provide leadership to staff in building system and classroom capacity in mental health literacy and school-based interventions and programming rooted in trauma informed and responsive practices and social emotional skill building to improve student outcomes, and mental health and well-being.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Completion of a Master of Social Work degree;
  • A registered member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW); those eligible for registration may be considered;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of social work experience working in the area of children and youth mental health promotion, prevention, intervention, crisis and system navigation. Experience in an educational environment is preferred;
  • A minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory and leadership role;
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical supervision, that promote good outcomes for children/youth, and evidence-based practices;
  • In-depth working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. PHIPA, Mental Health Act, Child and Family Services Act);
  • Proven ability to lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives;
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic thinking, critical thinking and decision making;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with electronic records management and data analytics;
  • Expertise in BRISC, Brief Digital Interventions, Single Session, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Development Trauma and Trauma Informed and Responsive Education Practices;
  • Proven leadership and expertise in the assessment, intervention and management of suicide risk and violent threat situations;
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading knowledge dissemination initiatives and in strengthening the capacity of professional service teams;
  • Demonstrated expertise in service delivery approaches grounded in anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices that foster safe(r) spaces, cultural humility, and inclusivity;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities skills, complimented by effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to maintain accurate, up to date documentation, in accordance with professional standards, mental health act and PHIPA;
  • Skilled in developing and strengthening collaborations and partnerships with both internal teams and external stakeholders;
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, including those governing privacy, confidentiality, professional practice, mental health and education.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Valid Class G driver's licence is required. The successful candidate will be required to provide a copy of their driver's licence;
  • The nature of this position will require the successful candidate to service large geographical areas.

This is a full-time permanent position. The regular work year for this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation for this twelve (12) month position is $137,482 per year. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,

even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
