Position: Technical Business Analyst / Project Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: 6 months + potential extension
Location: Toronto, ON
Work Model: 3-4 days in office
We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst / Project Manager with strong expertise in the trading lifecycle and collateral management, combined with proven skills in data analysis, data product review, and project delivery.
This individual will serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders, product owners, vendors, and technology teams, ensuring the successful execution of initiatives in an agile environment. In addition to traditional business analysis responsibilities, this role will include project management oversight, vendor coordination, and Scrum Master duties to drive delivery and continuous improvement across the team.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Requirements Gathering- Engage with trading desks, risk, treasury, operations, and collateral teams to capture and analyze business needs.
- Translate requirements into clear functional specifications, process flows, and user stories with acceptance criteria.
- Partner with Product Owners to refine and prioritize the backlog in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Evaluate and improve workflows around collateral management and intraday collateral movement.
- Support delivery of solutions that enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance within collateral processes.
- Perform data analysis to validate requirements, identify trends, and ensure data integrity across trading and collateral domains.
- Review and assess data products, reports, and pipelines for accuracy, usability, and alignment with business needs.
- Collaborate with data engineering and data governance teams to address data quality issues and support decision-making.
- Lead and manage end-to-end project delivery across multiple stakeholders.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with vendors, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met.
- Track project milestones, risks, and dependencies, escalating where necessary to ensure successful delivery.
- Prepare and present progress updates, project documentation, and post-implementation reviews.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog refinement).
- Remove blockers, track team progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Promote agile best practices and foster collaboration within the team.
- Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, and external vendors.
- Ensure clear and timely communication of updates, risks, and outcomes to senior management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Data, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst in capital markets, with a strong understanding of the trade lifecycle.
- Knowledge of collateral management processes (margining, optimization, settlements).
- Strong SQL skills (JOINs, GROUP BY, subqueries; CTEs are a plus).
- Strong data analysis capabilities, including querying, validation, and interpretation of complex datasets.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including vendor coordination and delivery ownership.
- Hands-on Scrum Master experience in agile environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with trade capture systems, risk engines, and collateral platforms is an asset.
- Agile certification (CSM, PSM) preferred.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification is an asset.
- Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Outcome-focused with the ability to balance business needs and technical constraints.
