Sr. Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot) to build greenfield e-commerce platforms across Grocery, Pharma, and Apparel business domains

Our client is Canada's largest retailer. They are looking for a Sr. Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot) to build greenfield e-commerce platforms across Grocery, Pharma, and Apparel business domains.

They are launching 5+ new applications this year, and you’ll have a direct role in architecting these services. You’ll build resilient, scalable microservices that support web applications used by millions of Canadians.

Duration: Until End of December 2025, to start

Location: Toronto (Bathurst and Lakeshore) - 1 day/week onsite mandatory

Responsibilities:

• Develop microservices that support pricing, promotions, order management, and fulfillment workflows
• Architect event-driven systems for scalable, real-time processing using cloud-native tools
• Define and evolve data models and schemas to support new product and operational needs
• Support integrations with 3rd-party partners such as DoorDash and internal fulfillment systems
• Optimize service performance, latency, and availability in a high-traffic environment
• Work cross-functionally to design clean, consistent APIs for frontend and mobile consumption
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous deployment workflows

Must Have Skills:

• 7+ years of experience in Backend Development, with strong Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
• Experience working with GCP, especially BigQuery, BigTable, and Pub/Sub
• Strong understanding of TDD, CI/CD, and automated testing
