Sr Software Architect to support replacing a front-end Oracle based system for a large federal grants system

Our valued Public Sector client requires a Senior Software Architect to support replacing a front-end Oracle based system for a large federal grants system.

The objective of the work is to assist in the modernization of the current legacy system and work with the internal development team to accomplish this.

Must Have:

• Experience leading an implementation a modernization initiative, replacing sun-setting technology
• Canadian Degree or Diploma related to computer science, IT, or engineering
• Federal government experience
• Valid enhanced reliability Clearance

Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

• Identify IT software trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology
• Identify technical policies, standards and requirements that dictate particular alternative solutions
• Evaluate alternative software solutions and recommend a chosen solution that meets business needs
• Ensure the integration viability of all aspects of the chosen technology solution
• Participate with members of the Development Team in the planning and development of a replacement front-end user interface Proof of Concept working model, utilizing the recommended solution by providing required:
• Analysis of functional requirements to identify required changes in information, procedures and decision flows
• Evaluation of existing procedures and of required changes to database content, structure, application sub-systems, and to the data dictionary
• Evaluation of input/output sources and planning of the technical design phase
• Develop technical architectures, frameworks, and strategies, either for an organization or for a major Application area, to meet the business and Application requirements;
• Identify the policies and requirements that drive out a particular Solution;
• Analyze and evaluate alternative technology Solutions to meet business problems;
• Ensures the Integration of all aspects of technology Solutions;
• Analyze functional requirements to identify information, procedures, and decision flows;
• Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and document database content, structure, and Application sub-systems, and develop data dictionary;
• Define and document interfaces of manual to automated operations within Application sub-systems, to external systems and between new and existing systems;
• Define input/output sources, including detailed plan for technical design Phase, and obtain approval of the system proposal; and
• Identify and document system specific standards relating to programming, documentation, and testing, covering program libraries, data dictionaries, naming conventions, etc.
