Sr Reliability cleared Python (Blob to SharePoint) Developer to migrate legacy Oracle documents to SharePoint for a modernization initiative.

Our Federal Government Client is seeking an Senior Python Developer to support the migration of legacy documents from an Oracle-based system (LA2000) to SharePoint as part of a modernization initiative. This role focuses on converting and migrating blob file data and metadata using Python scripts, into SharePoint folders (one per case), enabling integration with modern solutions such as MS PowerBI and MS Dynamics.

The initial migration infrastructure and scripts are already in place; the successful contractor will be responsible for executing and continuing the migration process and working with various stakeholders to finalize the document transfer effort.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the legacy Oracle database (LA2000) to extract documents and associated metadata.
• Use Python to extract and convert blob files (documents, videos, PDFs) for compatibility.
• Migrate extracted files and metadata to SharePoint, with proper folder structure (one per case).
• Document and optimize the document migration process.
• Collaborate with data administrators, technical SMEs, program managers, and other business stakeholders.
• Contribute to the ongoing modernization and decommissioning of the LA2000 system.
• Ensure data integrity and traceability from legacy source to new SharePoint locations.
• Support readiness for reporting and analytics integration via PowerBI.

Must Haves

• 3+ years of hands-on development experience with Python, specifically for data extraction and transformation
• Experience migrating blob file data (documents, videos, PDFs) from Oracle databases
• Strong experience working with SharePoint, specifically for document uploads or content management
• Experience with metadata tagging and handling during migrations
• Familiarity with legacy-to-modern system migrations in public or enterprise-scale environments
• Valid Reliability Clearance

Nice to Haves

• Experience working in federal or public sector modernization projects
• Familiarity with MS PowerBI or MS Dynamics
• Knowledge of document classification, indexing, or retention strategies
• Experience scripting or automating tasks using PowerShell or similar tools
