Our client is Canada's largest retailer. They are looking for a Sr Full Stack Engineering Manager. This leadership role combines technical expertise in Java (Spring Boot), React.JS and ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with people management and delivery oversight. You'll guide the team in building secure, scalable, and resilient systems that enable better health outcomes for Canadians.


Location: Bathurst and Lakeshore - 2 days/week onsite

Duration: 6 months, to start


Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Backend and Frontend Engineers.
  • Drive technical direction, architecture, and best practices across services and APIs.
  • Partner with product, design, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features.
  • Ensure backend systems are scalable, secure, and well-tested.
  • Balance hands-on technical leadership with delivery management and team development.
  • Advocate for clean code, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot)
  • Strong proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern web development.
  • Familiarity with GCP or other cloud platforms in a production environment.
  • Deep understanding of API design, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for mentoring and building inclusive, high-impact teams.
