Senior Unix Systems Administrator to provide administration and production support within a Solaris 11 environment for a crown corporation client

Our valued crown corporation client is seeking a Senior Unix Systems Administrator to provide administration and production support within a Solaris 11 environment!

Initial 1-year contract with strong possibility of extension to a total term of 3 years. 100% remote. The selected candidate must work in EST hours, with some days starting as early as 7am EST. The successful candidate will also be part of an on-call rotation requiring work during non-standard business hours once every 7 weeks.

As the successful candidate you will provide administration and production support within a Solaris 11 environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with operational support for the Solaris 11 environment
• Contribute to Solaris OS patching and remediation practices and cycles
• Assist with planning and execution Solaris patch management using best practices
• Assist with execution and planning of installation, configuration and tuning of Solaris servers using OVM.
• Provide input to and/or developing necessary documentation (build books, operation guides)

Must-have Skills:

• 8+ years’ experience as a Systems Administrator supporting a supporting a Solaris 11 environment
• Demonstrated experience with Ansible Tower / Automation
• Experience with Unix systems administration, hardware support, and build automation (Scripting, Packaging, OpsCenter)

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Network Automation, and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Redhat OpenSCAP
• Demonstrated experience supporting a RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7/8/9 environment using Red Hat Satellite
• Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, OpenShift, etc.)
