Our pension sector client is seeking a Senior Project Control Manager (10+ years) to lead project delivery, financial reporting, and risk management across a complex multi-project portfolio

Join a dynamic team within the technology data and delivery group, focusing on restructuring and large-scale pension program initiatives. This role drives portfolio-level reporting, project financials, and risk tracking across multi-million-dollar efforts while interfacing with project managers, vendors, and corporate finance. The position offers visibility to executive committees and strategic leadership meetings, delivering impactful insights through consistent analysis and presentations. The client requires a seasoned contractor capable of stepping in rapidly to stabilize and optimize delivery performance.

6 months Contract, with potential extension


Toronto, Hybrid - 2 days onsite


Working Hours: 37.5 hours / week


Responsibilities

  • Lead project and portfolio financial reporting, tracking budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses in collaboration with Corporate Finance
  • Conduct regular project status updates and manage progress monitoring through KPIs, milestones, and recovery assessments
  • Coordinate monthly reporting activities for strategic committees, consolidating data from project managers and vendors
  • Drive risk and issue mitigation, maintaining complete RAID documentation
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level decks and progress reports for pension board committees
  • Act as liaison between portfolio and corporate planning teams, ensuring alignment on budget allocations and accruals
  • Analyze portfolio-level data to identify trends, optimize resource utilization, and improve project delivery performance


Must Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in portfolio and project management including financial reporting, risk management, and status reporting
  • Advanced capability in project controls such as cost management, forecasting, and scheduling
  • Proficiency in Excel with extensive use of functions, pivot tables, and data visualization
  • Expert PowerPoint skills for preparing accurate, visually engaging executive presentations
  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, or project management

Nice to Have

  • PMP or other PMI designation
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Jira, Confluence, or Portfolio Planning tools
  • Understanding of resource capacity planning and flow metrics
  • Advanced knowledge of both waterfall and agile delivery frameworks
