Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Oracle Fusion HCM Payroll Functional Lead to design, configure, and implement Oracle Cloud Payroll in the public education sector.
Initially a 3~6 months contract. 25-30 hours week to start (likely to ramp up). Fully remote in PST time zone within Canada.
This role leads the end-to-end configuration, testing, and implementation of Oracle Fusion HCM Payroll for a large K-12 school district with multiple union agreements and complex pay structures.
Must Haves
- 5+ years of Oracle Fusion HCM Payroll implementation experience
- Proficiency in Canadian payroll compliance, statutory calculations, and multi-union environments
- Hands-on experience with parallel payroll testing, configuration management, and data migration
- Expert knowledge of payroll costing, GL integration, and retro-calculations
Nice to Have
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) certification or in progress
- Exposure to K-12 education payroll environments
- Experience managing multiple unions and seasonal employment structures
- Familiarity with year-end procedures: T4/T4A mapping, ROEs, reconciliations
- Strong Excel ability for reconciliation and test validation
Responsibilities
- Lead configuration of Oracle Fusion HCM Payroll across multiple unionized pay groups
- Drive key design decisions on earning/deduction rules, customization scope, and costing structures
- Validate system fit-gap sessions with HR, Payroll, and Finance leadership
- Develop and execute configuration unit, parallel, and end-to-end payroll testing cycles
- Ensure CRA compliance and accuracy of district-specific payroll calculations
- Design and oversee data conversion for employee master data, pay history, and balances
- Define implementation roadmap, cutover planning, and readiness milestones
- Collaborate with HR, IT, and Finance teams to ensure cross-system alignment and successful go-live
- Support year-end transition including balance migration, reporting validation, and documentation creation
- Guide governance, post go-live maintenance strategy, and process stabilization
