Senior Java Developer with GCP and Front End UI experience to work with one of our major banking clients- 38213

Location Address: Hybrid/Scarborough - 3 days/week potential to increase to 4 (Monday through Wednesday)

Subject to change: 3-4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: 3 months to start, good possibility of extension for 6 months a time up to 2 years tenure

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: CBE Commercial Banking Engineering - team supports 4 mainframe applications, 2 of which are CIA apps, one interlink based Java app, and one cloud application for Business Banking

Project: Work on ongoing projects - current one is Project Zero, replacing all forms and automating and including digital signing of forms for business banking; potentially prime minus - allowing negative rate spreads on products

Typical Day in Role:

• Tech stack: Java hosted on AS400 platform, Java based on cloud

• Front-end UI developer role

• Working on existing AS400 and cloud applications

• Development unit testing

• Assist with integrated system tests

• Maintain and update documentation

• Working within a cross-functional team of Developers, Product Owners, and technical experts to understand requirements that drive the design and implementation of technical solutions.

• Work with architecture groups on design proposals, development, and maintenance of applications.

• Address technical issues on projects; pro-actively engaging project team and clients with concerns.

• Ability to quickly ramp up on and apply new technologies and processes.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1) 10+ years of working experience as a developer with Java, SQL

2) 8+ years of working experience with SOAP, JSON, RESTful services

3) 8+ years of working experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript

4) 2+ years of Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)/ Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• 3+ years of Experience with JSP's

• Knowledge in IBM technologies such as IBM WebSphere, IBM DB2, IBM MQ

• Working experience in AIX/Unix environment

• Proficient in build tools Git, Maven, Jenkins

• Proficient in Eclipse-based development environment

• Experience in collaboratives tools such as Confluence, JIRA

• Experience in static code analyzer tools such as Fortify, Blackduck, WebInspect is an asset.

Education:

Bachelor’s in technical field

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Someone with experience working on client internal platforms (BNS); senior folks who can help coach on technical skillsets, strong Java Dev
