Senior Java Developer - Fixed Income Technology - 84809

Duration: 6 months (Possibility of Extension)

Location: Hybrid (Downtown Toronto - 3 days a week in office, Tue to Thurs)

This Isn’t Just Another Dev Role - It’s Your Chance to Engineer the Core of Global Fixed Income Trading

We’re talking ultra-low-latency architectures, real-time market data, and automation at scale - all in an environment where milliseconds matter and billions move. You’ll work on greenfield and semi-greenfield projects, building dealer-side workflows that redefine how traders quote, price, and execute.

From RFQ ingestion and auto-response logic to automated execution, your code will sit at the heart of high-stakes trading desks. Every decision you make will shape performance, resilience, and speed for mission-critical systems.

If you thrive on complexity, love solving performance challenges under pressure, and want to collaborate directly with traders and product teams at the sharp edge of financial technology - this is your arena.

What You’ll Build

  • High-performance backend services for real-time pricing, quoting, and trade execution
  • RFQ lifecycle automation and dealer quoting infrastructure
  • Event-driven architectures integrating with trading UIs (OpenFin) and internal risk engines
  • Scalable, resilient systems optimized for performance, observability, and fault tolerance under production load
  • Robust test frameworks ensuring stability and reliability in mission-critical environments
  • Mentorship and leadership to grow a world-class Fixed Income development team

Must Have Skills

  • 5+ years of professional Java development experience
  • Proven experience building backend services for front-office trading systems
  • Deep understanding of front-office workflows and electronic trading platforms
  • Strong grasp of fixed income dealer workflows, quoting, and trade execution
  • Expertise in multi-threading, event-driven systems, and performance tuning
  • Ability to break down complex workflows into maintainable, high-quality solutions
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in high-stakes, trader-facing environments
  • Exposure to time-series databases, market data integration, and algorithmic workflows

Preferred Experience

  • Built or contributed to RFQ engines, quoting platforms, or dealer execution tools
  • Experience with trading protocols (FIX and beyond) and integration with venues like Tradeweb, Bloomberg, MarketAxess, and others
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian Fixed Income market conventions
