Senior GCP Cloud/DevOps Engineer to support releases and a migration of an application to cloud with one of our major banking clients- 38619


Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto - 3 days/week (days are flexible)

Subject to change: 3-4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: 6 months (Possibility of extension)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

  • Business group: Client Engineering - Mobile and Web - supporting banking application
  • Project: Supporting CI/CD DevOps work, supporting releases, migration of application to Cloud, supporting pipeline for a Scotia application and migration to multi-tenant cloud

Typical Day in Role:

  • Collaborating closely with a team of UI developers, backend API developers, business system analysts, and architects to work on both new features and incremental improvements to the bank’s Online banking and provide your technical expertise towards success of the development team
  • Communicating closely with the team through Teams daily
  • Troubleshooting any issues in the test environment
  • Work with stakeholders such as BA, application developers and other internal teams (Tech Ops, Dev Ops)
  • Supporting the non-prod and prod releases
  • Supporting migration to multi-tenant cloud
  • Tech Stack: GCP, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Python, GitHub

Must Have Skills:

1) 7+ years of experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering roles

2) 4+ years of hands-on experience with GCP

3) Strong hands-on expertise in CI/CD tools and scripting languages (e.g. Jenkins, YAML, Python).

4) Proven experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in cloud environments (GCP/GKE).

5) 3+ years of experience with Helm and Terraform.

6) Proficient in GitHub workflows and version control practices.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) Strong understanding of networking, load balancing, service discovery, and scalability in cloud environments

2) Knowledge of OAuth2.0 and IAM policies

3) Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Dynatrace and Splunk

4) Relevant certifications would be a bonus (ex. Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer)

5) Familiarity with integrating security tools into CI/CD pipelines.

Relevant certifications would be a bonus (ex. Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer)

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Ideal candidate has experience in FI/banking application projects, GCP is an important skill to have, need a strong DevOps candidate, CI/CD experience, certifications are an asset
